Unraveling the significance of the first information report (FIR) in criminal procedure

Abstract
The First Information Report (FIR) is a
crucial element of the criminal justice system in many countries, including
India, where it is governed by the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). It serves as
the initial step in the process of investigation and prosecution of criminal
offenses. Here, I will provide a critical analysis of the FIR in the context of
the CrPC.
